What is Regression Therapy?




Past Lives and Past Life Regression Therapy covers past lives, and also current life memories some of which may be below the level of our conscious awareness. It enables the conflicts from the past that have been distorting our mental, emotional and physical well-being to be resolved. An example from the current life may be a phobia and a more complex one post-traumatic stress from childhood trauma or a life threatening situation. The symptoms may include panic attacks, emotional outbursts, blocked feelings, self-harm, numbness, unexplainable physical pain or recurring relationship problems.

The therapy works by going to the root of the problem and includes body therapy and inner child therapy to transform it in a way that is both safe and structured. It also includes cleaning the energy field of intrusive energy which has been affecting health including spirit releasement, curses and energy fragments. Regression therapy reaches further and heals deeper at the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels than most other therapeutic approaches.



Spirit Release relates to how the spirit/soul operates through the mind and body and the therapeutic issues that arise when imbalances occur.  These imbalances can happen when a person has experienced trauma to the extent that part of themselves has ‘cut off’ from the rest of the psyche.  This happens when experiencing an overwhelming level of fear causing the person to go into ‘freeze’ but still holding the feelings that caused them to cut off.  This part of the self is held in limbo within the person’s unconscious but causes difficulties in the everyday conscious life.  The person experiences high levels of negative feelings for no apparent reason due to the old feelings being triggered by a relatively insignificant event. When this happens it is commonly called soul loss. This will continue until healing is brought to the traumatised part of the self.

A further issue is where energies external to the individual can sometimes attach themselves to the 'cut-off' part or sub personality. Through these sub personality connections the external energy can influence the person and intermittently take partial possession of the mind and body. Spirit Release therapy works with healing the personal circumstances - such as negative core beliefs of the sub-personality - that have allowed the attachment and to facilitate the removal of these unwanted intrusions.

Body Therapy releases and clears all types of trauma locked in the body including sexual and physical abuse. It works with deep body patterns from the current or a past life.

This is a current life regression, which aims to get to the very root of an issue. When we are very little and a trauma occurs there can be a part of us that 'fragments.' What it is?
Regression Therapy involves going back to the root cause of a problem which is usually stored deep within our subconscious mind. You may find that the root cause lies in your current life, perhaps even way back to the time you were in the womb or to some point in your childhood. In these cases the therapy will involve healing around those current life events and a beautiful and transformative process called ‘Healing the Inner Child’. It could be that the root cause goes all the way back to a ‘story’ that resembles a past life and then the healing will be around those events. It really doesn’t matter if you think it is real or not as it is the wonderful healing that results that is important. Either way, it is a very powerful and quick way of getting to the source of problems that you may be facing in your life now and the healing that can occur can be quite miraculous. During the sessions, which usually last between 2 and 2.5 hours, I will invite you to close your eyes and listen to my voice while I guide you to a deep state of relaxation. Then I will take you through a guided meditation and will invite you to engage in a conversation of what you are experiencing. Your eyes will be closed and you will be relaxed, but aware of what is happening around you. If you do fall asleep, the important thing to remember is that your unconscious mind remembers everything.

After a session you may feel uplifted, lighter and very relaxed. Often changes take place on different levels and result in a positive shift in how you are feeling.

During the first 7 years of our lives we develop our internal belief patterns based on the information and behaviour we observe from those around us. Our parents, siblings, carers and teachers can influence and teach us beliefs and thoughts that are untrue. If we are told we are stupid or worthless then as a small child we can form that belief. We can grow up thinking that we deserve to be treated with abuse or that we are unlovable. Like wise, if we are brought up in a loving caring environment then as adults we believe that we are worthy of love and are loveable. 

Using Hypnosis and current life regression the source of any phobia that has developed can be transformed by accessing the subconscious memory. The memory can be visited and observed. Once this connection has been made to our inner self we can see without judgement how we took on unhealthy beliefs.

Inner Child Therapy

During the early years of our lives we absorb many things in our environment, both consciously and unconsciously; and consequently we develop many of our internal belief patterns based on the information and behaviour we observe in the world around us and from the people in it. These people might be our parents or other members of our family, but they can of course also be our teachers, our neighbours, our friends and the people and ideas that we see on TV.

Unfortunately for some of us, the unconscious part of our mind that creates our internal belief systems and programmes often doesn’t judge whether the incoming information is right or wrong and so it is possible that any given thing that we experience, whether good, bad or indifferent becomes a part of our belief or value system.

Sometimes these can be very simple everyday phrases that we don’t even think of as damaging. I had a client who has tremendous problem regarding money. She had a couple of challenges in that she found it difficult to find jobs that paid her well for her efforts and she found it incredibly difficult to spend the money that she did earn on anything other than essentials, and especially difficult to spend on herself. She came from a family that had struggled to get by when she was a child and she was easily able to remember her parents’ beliefs were that you had to work long hours in tough jobs in order to get by. In trance she also remembered quite clearly that a common phrase in her childhood was “Money doesn’t grow on trees, you know”. Both the core belief and the phrase were deeply entrenched in her unconscious behaviour. Two sessions later and the old belief was replaced with a new positive one, and then a couple of months down the road she found herself a new job that paid her well for her efforts, and equally importantly she was able to start spending some of the extra money on a few little rewards for herself.

Sometimes the beliefs and patterns that we inherit may be even more serious. If our parents show us a lot of love at an early age, then it is easy for us to believe we are loveable and worthy of good things. However if we are not shown that love then we may grow up thinking a different truth about ourselves. Early comments from people that we are no good, stupid or abuse may hurt deeply at the time, but may be easily forgotten, however they may also lead us to live lives where we actually believe that we are no good and stupid and in some case we only believe we are worthy of (and thus attract) abusive partners or friends.

How Does Inner Child Therapy Work?

With many of these early beliefs and patterns it is possible in hypnosis to regress right back to the very first time our Inner Child developed this belief. Using our adult perspective we can reframe this belief, and then develop a new understanding and perspective about the circumstances of our childhood and replace the old belief with a new and empowering belief. We can start to remember that we are deeply loveable and create a new positive belief patterns about ourselves at a deep unconscious level that will start to manifest into our external reality i.e. our everyday lives. We also use the hypnotic trance to state to integrate some special qualities that are inherent (but sometimes forgotten) within us, such as feelings of self-confidence, strength and self-acceptance amongst many others.

Past Life Regression

You meet someone for the first time and feel as if you know them already. You are in a town that you’ve never been to before, yet you recognize streets and buildings. You start a new activity and amaze yourself at your natural abilities and intuitive knowing of it. We often describe such experiences as déjà vu. i.e. the experience or feeling that a new situation has happened to us before. However, the possibility exists that we have actually lived these experiences in the past or, rather, in another lifetime.

Many spiritual practices believe that reincarnation is real. Our souls return to this earth over a series of lifetimes to evolve, learn, grow and transform. And when we reincarnate, we tend to travel through different lives with many of the same people. Often these traveling companions are the ones we enter into relationships with. Because we work through unresolved issues together so that we may heal.

Being naturally blessed with a musical talent or another gift can be a special ability that you worked hard to develop in a past life. You may even have lived before as another gender or as part of a different social or economic class. Each lifetime brings with it specific learnings that are necessary for our spiritual evolution.


There are several possible explanations for “past lives”. You may choose to believe that the mind creates a dissociative experience where it’s safer to deal with and gain insight to an issue. Or perhaps  that part of the mind accesses Jung’s collective unconscious.  Others reason that past lives are simply genetic memory or encoded in our DNA. And of course you may genuinely believe in reincarnation and that we have all lived many times before. All of these beliefs are valid and which one is true is to some degree irrelevant.

The fact is that past life regression therapy can be a very transformational and empowering process for anyone. The aim of regression therapy is to go to the source of a problem and release the energy associated with it. This is made possible by using a light hypnotic trance that allows you to return to the very first time you experienced an issue or problem you wish to address. The event is then revisited and transformed by releasing the emotions, physical sensations and thoughts associated with the event and reframing its significance.


Transformational metaphor


Regression therapy looks for the source of a problem or issue in the past, but it does not define where in the past this experience lies. Most of the time, clients return to events they have experienced in childhood or in the womb, however sometimes they return to a life that is not their current life. For some, this is perceived as a past life. For others, it is an other life, a construct created by their sub-conscious mind, like a metaphor, to help them make sense of their experience. From a therapeutic point of view, the process is the same. People of all beliefs and cultures can benefit from regression therapy, the transformational process is the same whatever your beliefs.


How many sessions does it take?


Regression therapy is a brief therapy where we treat one symptom or issue at a time. Clients often observe an improvement after the first session but it can take four or five sessions over several months to resolve a specific issue. Sometimes symptoms disappear altogether, sometimes less so... Results will quite naturally vary with each client.

Triggers and emotions


Perhaps you sometimes experience emotions or behaviour that seem a little out of place or inappropriate. You may feel overly anxious when someone fails to show up for an appointment; or raging anger when someone lets you down; or deeply sad when you notice certain smells. Perhaps you observe in yourself automatic physical reactions that don't entirely make sense to you, for example a sharp headache whenever you enter a hospital or a choking feeling when you hear a particular word or phrase. Or perhaps you have an on-going feeling that you can't quite shake off, a feeling of exclusion or abandonment, rejection or loneliness... Sometimes, these kinds of reactions or behaviours are due to events or experiences in your childhood that you may have forgotten.


Forgotten trauma


Events experienced in childhood or adolescence, or even in the womb, mark us for life. When a child experiences an event that triggers fear or anger or another strong emotion, this may become so unbearable that the child blocks the memory. However, the memory still exists and the body retains it. The result is a form of conditioning: we react emotionally and physically to triggers associated with the source event, despite having little memory of it. It is as if a child is trapped within us, unable to grow and learn from our experience.


Heal the child within


Inner child healing allows the adult that we have become to heal the child within. These sessions are often deeply moving experiences that enable clients to release long-held physical and emotional pain and in so doing resolve a large range of issues that may be troubling them.

Inner Child Healing is an opportunity to meet the aspects of yourself as a child when you had perhaps felt amongst other things, confused, hurt, belittled or misunderstood. These parts can often still feel hurt and stuck - and sometimes feel disenfranchised or even rejected by our adult self. In fact, you may not even go to a life that most people would term a 'life from the past'  - i.e. during a historical setting pre-21st Century - although most people do. Both observing and playing out this ‘other’ life whilst in a safe and secure therapeutic setting can bring about a remission in the problem you are bringing to therapy. These issues can be as diverse as inexplicable fears, phobias, relationship issues, ill health, physical, emotional and mental disharmony to name but a few. 

For some clients, they have experienced strong feelings or thoughts about other lives lived; an unequivocal sense that they have existed during a specific period in time, or can remember certain places or people even though they have not been there or met them before. For other clients, there is a sense that this 'other life' recollection has allowed them to tap into their Ancestral heritage - possibly via genetic transmission. For some, the journey is one of connecting with what Jung termed the 'collective unconscious' - where the memories, instincts and experiences common to mankind are held. By doing so, they are witness to a story or metaphor that might be helpful to them. And finally, some clients may feel that they are experiencing their active imagination creating the perfect story – which helpfully mirrors or relates to what they are going through at this time. Many clients express surprise at how lasting and impactful the experience is, however – the vivid details, how unexpected the story is, how physically and emotionally touching it is on many levels. Whatever your view, each way of experiencing it is valid and has the potential to bring about a desired transformation. What is crucial to the success of this work is a willingness to engage in the process and to keep an open mind. In my experience, whatever your belief system, the healing can be the same.
